“ALREADY FREE” RECEIVES GRAMMY NOMINATION…AND MORE!

Congratulations to The Derek Trucks Band, whose 2009 release, “Already Free” (Sony/Victor) has been nominated for Best Contemporary Blues Album of the year! The band’s 6th studio album, which had it’s highest debut on the Billboard 200 to date, is amongst good company; Robert Cray, Mavis Staples, Ruthie Foster and Truck’s wife, Susan Tedeschi (featuring Derek collaborating on her album and she on his). The much deserved nomination comes as The Derek Trucks Band, following 16 years of relentless touring, will go on hiatus in 2010 while the Trucks’ mount a new project (a formal collaboration of Tedeschi and Trucks which will feature a new touring band), scheduled to make it’s debut in April 2010. This re-confirmation of the couple’s talent and creativity (the 4th nomination for Tedeschi and, yet another, amongst numerous accolades for Mr. Trucks), is another exclamation point in their individual and combined future legacies, coming just as the duo are putting plans in motion for what promises to be one of the most formidable of husband and wife tours ever!
